Introducing Direct Messages

Big news. You can now send direct messages on Writeout. Whether you just played a nail-biter of a Word Duel or you want to line up your next match, your conversations finally live in one place.

What you can do

• Start a chat anywhere. Message someone from their profile, the Friends page, or the new compose button in your inbox.
• Message requests. Notes from people you do not follow land in a separate Requests tab, so your main inbox stays calm. You decide what to accept.
• React with emoji. Tap a message to drop a quick reaction for those moments when words are not needed.
• Stay in control. Mute a thread, block someone, or delete messages on your side whenever you like.
• Real time, the whole way. Typing indicators, read receipts, and instant delivery are all built in.

Private by design

Your messages travel over a secure connection and are encrypted at rest. We keep a light touch on safety so the community stays friendly, and you always control who can reach you from Settings.

How to start

Open the Messages tab in the sidebar, hit compose, search for a friend, and say hello. That is genuinely all there is to it.
